Learn about the area and connect with an ambassador
The first step is to choose the protected or conserved area you want to get involved with and contact an ambassador from your country or region.
This involves understanding its context: what values it preserves (biodiversity, culture, water, etc.), what its main challenges are, and which stakeholders are involved in its management. It’s also key to identify conservation priorities and understand how decisions are made in that territory.
Benefit: You become part of real, locally-driven processes, increasing the relevance and effectiveness of your action.
Define your initiative and strengthen it with support
Based on this knowledge, design an initiative aligned with a specific priority of the territory. It can be a one-time action or part of a broader process, but it must contribute to the management and governance of the area.
To strengthen your proposal:
organize a dialogue or interview with ambassadors and, when possible, with the initiative’s team.
Leverage the quick training sessions and blog content

Benefit: your celebration gains clarity, coherence, and greater territorial impact.
Organize and register your celebration
Bring together key local stakeholders (communities, organizations, managers, institutions, etc.) and ensure that the celebration has clear, validated, and authorized basic information:
What will be done?
Where?
With whom?
For what purpose?
How does it relate to the protected or conserved area?
Then, register your celebration and create audiovisual material for dissemination.
Look for the form in your language (available from July–August)
Benefit: You strengthen the legitimacy of your action, facilitate its visibility, and contribute to a regional information database.
