CELEBRATING WITH THE STRENGTH OF THE TERRITORY THE DAY OF PROTECTED AND CONSERVED AREAS FOR ALL OF LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN
The hummingbird is a magical and significant bird for Latin America and the Caribbean.
In 2024, the organization will visit territories where the conservation of protected and conserved areas and their people is valued and contributed to.
The territorial focus will alternate with project sessions, panels of representatives from different fields, sectors, generations and cultures, promotional videos of initiatives, a workshop to strengthen the integration of actors, among other inspiring options that identify the event.
All of this will be broadcast during the event on October 17, LAC PROTECTED AND CONSERVED AREAS DAY.
FREE AND FREE access with colloquial translations into Portuguese and English.
WHAT IS THE CELEBRATION OF PROTECTED AND CONSERVED AREAS FOR THE REGION?“The Celebration of Protected and Conserved Areas and their People” brings together diverse sectors, levels, generations, genders and cultures in a sustainable process of assessment and impact, around October 17, the Day of Protected and Conserved Areas (APyC) for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). The Celebration positions these territories as effective tools for well-being, from the III Congress of Protected Areas of Latin America and the Caribbean - IIICAPLAC (Lima - Peru, 2019).
The initiative is led by a consolidated management team and has the endorsement of IUCN, WCPA IUCN and FAO. In addition, we are a member organization of IUCN since 2024 in alliance with the Fundación Bosques Nativos Argentinos .
The on-site and virtual reach to 21 countries, mobilizing 10,000 people and valuing 230 protected and conserved areas on average - since 2020 - is achieved thanks to the expert work of the management team, ambassadors and collaborators.
LET'S SUPPORT the massive, effective and transparent integration and recognition of people and their communities, organizations, networks, defenders and park rangers, entrepreneurs, local governments and youth who do not reach global events or exclusive spaces!
