The annual Celebration initiative has a convening ROAD SHEET for 2024. It invites people and their communities, organisations, governments and businesses to value and contribute to the conservation of protected areas, conserved areas, biological corridors, and areas for wellbeing in all their possibilities. As every year, it invites free and equitable registration of CELEBRATIONS that can be specific activities or projects to be positioned and articulated around October 17th - DAY OF PROTECTED AND CONSERVED AREAS for our region. In this way, the work of the diversity of actors, sectors, levels, genders, cultures and generations, has the opportunity to integrate into the different milestones of the roadmap, accessing benefits that help to recognise the important work and overcome the barriers of our territories.
One of the key moments of the annual work of The Celebration in 2024, includes the convening, systematisation and prioritisation of good practices to strengthen the integration of actors for the effective conservation of our areas for wellbeing.
🔸 How to integrate actors for the implementation of a public policy from a subnational government?
🔸 How can park rangers integrate stakeholders to validate an authorisation of use in a fragile area?
🔸 How can a youth network integrate and articulate with those responsible for the management of a protected area to make key decisions?
🔸 How does a community neighbouring a protected area integrate into a biodiversity monitoring strategy?
🔸How to integrate stakeholders in a marine area to define critical areas?
The Workshop for the integration of stakeholders for the effective conservation of Protected Areas, Conserved Areas and Biological Corridors in Latin America and the Caribbean, will focus on generating a space for direct participation, to convene diverse references to identify and develop good practices, consolidating an agile, robust and viable support for decision-makers, organisations, agencies, community leaders and activists, in order to generate influence and successful practice, considering the categories of the GREEN LIST.

A reference product is being built collaboratively since the IUCN Regional Conservation Forum in Mexico (April), the virtual walls open and accessible in the languages of our region, the Workshop (23 August), the Special Session of prioritisation of good practices during (17 October Day of Protected and Conserved Areas LAC), and the consolidated presentation, during a session in the green zone of the COP16 on Biodiversity (Cali, 31 October 2024).
In parallel, registration forms in Spanish, Portuguese and English were opened to register the Celebrations to the Areas for Well-being. A Celebration is a one-off or long-term activity organised by key actors from different levels, generations, genders, cultures and interests to contribute to the conservation of one or several protected or conserved areas in our region.
